NYX Cosmetics Founder Toni Ko: The Least-Expected Reaction to a Half-Billion-Dollar Sale

NYX Cosmetics Founder Toni Ko achieved what might seem like the ultimate end-game for an entrepreneur: She sold her company to an industry giant for hundreds of millions of dollars.

(Make that $500 million to cosmetics behemoth L’Oreal, to be exact.)

However, instead of the champagne-popping, victory-lap celebrations you might expect in the wake of such a coup, Toni had a very different reaction.

So different, in fact, that you could hear audible gasps from the audience when she gave voice to it — during an event co-produced with IVY, the social university, on the stage of Cross Campus Downtown LA in Feb. 2016.
