Longstanding Cross Campus Member and Founding Executive Director of Beautify Earth Evan Meyer teamed up with House of Meggs to beautify our Santa Monica location.
As we close out 2017 and launch our new website, we’re reposting some of our favorite blogs from the past few years. This entry was from May, 2016 and is #8 on our Top-10 list.
The abstract mural comes just in time for the opening of the Expo Line, and Cross Campus can't wait to greet riders with this beautiful piece as they enter the heart of Silicon Beach starting on May 20, 2016.
Meyer of Beautify Earth had a few words on the collaboration:
"I am the oldest member of Cross Campus. I was at their first location and now at their new location, and have watched them develop other locations around Los Angeles. I have been friends with management for years now, and Blair Golson who was the general manager when I started there, is actually a close friend of mine.
Cross Campus has been there since the inception of Beautify Earth. This is where we host our board meetings, and where I have painted a mural myself there as a gift. They also commissioned another mural inside. With the new expo line coming down Colorado [Ave], Cross Campus decided to work with Beautify Earth to put the first lively, and colorful mural along this corridor to welcome our commuters, tourists, and daily travelers to Santa Monica by train. We plan to work with many others who follow suit and beautify Colorado Ave as our next venture in the 50+ murals we've done in Santa Monica so far.
Cross Campus is a very special location, a very special mural, and now a gift to Santa Monica and all of its newcomers who come by train."
Big thank you to Beautify Earth and House of Meggs! Check out the video below to see the mural being created, courtesy of Beautify Earth.
