We connected with Founder Marci Rosenblum to bring you the inside scoop on life at Market it Media Group.

The Q&A

Q: In one sentence, describe who your company is and what you do.A: Market it Media Group is a results based digital marketing and social media service, custom-tailored to each and every one of our clients – big or small.

Q: What is the problem you're solving?A: We’re helping businesses integrate, grow, compete and prosper in the digital, global, local, mobile, video, and social media and marketing space.

Q: What brought your company to Los Angeles, and what do you like about the startup ecosystem here?A: Born and raised in Southern California! Could never see myself living anywhere else. I’ve worked in a lot of startups before creating my own company. It’s interesting to see all of the startups in Los Angeles now – from entertainment to tech.

L.A. is a total magnet for dreamers and creative entrepreneurs. There are so many startups in L.A. than ever before, and it’s been named the number 3 startup city in the world! I’ve watched the growth of startups here in L.A., so I’m not surprised it’s grabbed that third spot 3 years in a row. Also, I’ve noticed there are more and more women-run startup businesses – and that’s been very energizing and exciting to see.

Q: How has being a part of the Cross Campus community helped you or your business grow?A: It’s been really refreshing meeting people who have the same goals in common. Being around creative, smart, independent people has inspired and encouraged me. I’ve also been able to network and make new business relationships in a way I was never able to before – and without spending a lot of money traveling to different events! It’s helped me to focus in a way I wasn’t able to working from home, and the people I meet constantly surprise me. My clients love coming in for meetings, always complimenting me about the environment and the amenities.

Q: What has been your most satisfying moment in business?A: Right now – being able to sustain three years in business with a solid clientele. Getting great results for these clients and watching them grow and prosper in an ever-changing digital world is the most satisfying part.

Q: Tell me about a time you failed at a goal you needed to achieve.A: Before I went on my own, I was a partner in a marketing firm as acting president. I was working out of an office and managing 13 others. About a year into it, I realized it was just not a fit. But it was something I was trying to achieve my whole career. It was the wrong time with the wrong partner, under the wrong circumstances, and I learned so much. In hindsight, that failure was the best thing that ever happened to me, and is the reason I am able to run my own company today, get results for my clients, and be profitable!

Q: What are some of the characteristics of people that have been successful at your company?A: Passionate, creative, honest, ambitious, experienced, energetic, productive, great work ethic, innovative, giving, helpful, patient, positive, respectful, willing to learn, listen, and teach others.

Q: If your company were a Hogwarts house, which one would it be and why?A: Gryffindor House, because we never give up, we never back down, and we do everything at 100%. I stand up for myself and for my team because I believe in what’s right. I have a lot of energy and have always been a natural leader.

Q: Who do you respect the most, and why?A: Small business owners. My parents were small business owners – I always knew I’d help small businesses. It’s hard work, and I love helping them grow the most. I also respect my peers and colleagues, as the work we do is not easy.

Q: Where do you see yourself and your business in 10 years?A: I’m working on a new business venture now. I’d like to see my current business continue to thrive as I transition into the world of Bartering! I was just named the Los Angeles Ambassador for eBarter Exchange.

The eBarterExchange is a team of business professionals, brokers, media buyers and travel coordinators. Together there is over 120+ years combined experience in helping businesses obtain new sales, to new customers, and to leverage trade to reduce cash requirements for purchase, advertising and travel. This is where I see myself in the next ten years. This is where I see the future of money going.
